Islamabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene today (Sunday, March 30, 2025) to sight the Shawwal moon and determine the date for Eid-ul-Fitr 1446 Hijri. The meeting, chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, will be held at 6 PM on the rooftop of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kohsar Block.
Simultaneously, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will hold meetings in provincial Dar-ul-Khalafas to assess moon sighting reports from across the country. The public and relevant institutions have been urged to report any credible moon sightings to the committee’s designated contact numbers.
The final decision regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be announced after thorough verification of testimonies from different regions. If the moon is sighted today, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2025; otherwise, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid will be observed on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Religious scholars, meteorological experts, and representatives from various institutions will participate in the meeting to assist in the decision-making process. The announcement will be made publicly through media channels following the committee’s deliberations.
