Due to the accumulation of snow at various places, the Srinagar-Jammu highway has been closed for the traffic movement by the authorities.
The traffic spokesman said that no vehicular movement would be allowed on the highway during the day keeping the safety of travellers in mind. The situation will be reviewed after the weather improves.
The travellers have been advised not to undertake the journey without finding out the latest status of the road from traffic helplines in Jammu and Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the highway, the only road linking the Ladakh region with Kashmir remained closed for the past about two months due to the accumulation of snow, particularly between Sonamarg in central Kashmir and Meenmarg in Ladakh region.
The 86-km-long historic Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, also remained closed for the past about two months due to the accumulation of snow.
