Budgam, Dec 10: SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS today received Captain of National Women Wheelchair Basketball team Ms Insha Bashir at Srinagar International Airport on her return from New Delhi after attending the investiture ceremony and receiving the National Award from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment 

from the Hon’ble President of the Nation.

A bouquet was presented by SSP Budgam on her arrival. Insha Bashir, who hails from the Beerwah area of district Budgam, is a role model who, overcoming her physical disability, sitting in a wheelchair and making this wheelchair her wings chases her dreams. She has not only set an example for generations to come but to be a role model for everyone. Insha Bashir is a female international wheelchair basketball player from J&K UT who represented India in the United States of America in March 2019. 

 Recently, for the first time ever, an International Wheelchair Basketball tournament was held in India & she was selected  from J&K to play for India in the same & won silver medal. She was conferred with the National Award by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Deptt. Of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities) on 3rd December 2022 by Honble President of India.

Achievements:

Among other achievements, Insha has been awarded the National Award by the Ministry of Social Justice & 

Empowerment (Deptt. Of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities)

She also played the International Wheelchair Basketball tournament in November 2022 in Noida & won Silver Medal. She represented India in the USA in March 2019.  

She also played on the national level in Tamil Nadu in 2018, representing Delhi. She has Co-authored a book, namely “101 unconventional strategies”

Besides, she has been felicitated with memento by Honble Kiren Rijiju, the then Sports Minster of India.

SSP Budgam while receiving the *International woman wheelchair basketball player* stated that sports is important part of personality development and Insha’s dedication and achievements will encourage youth especially girls to excel in every field despite any odds in their lives.
