Srinagar, Dec 02: The increasing number of stray dogs has unleashed terror among the Srinagar residents, who blamed the concerned Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) authorities for failing to take necessary actions for their wellbeing.

The locals expressed concern over the rising number of dogs in their respective localities and stated they don’t even dare to send their children out of their homes due to the fear of dogs.

Mohammad Nadeem, a resident from Safa Kadal Srinagar said the rising dog population is a grave issue and it needs to be resolved at earliest. “The presence of dogs outside my residence has become a nuisance,” he said.

“The authorities have been trying to address the dog menace, but their efforts have not been very effective,” said Sahil Ahmad from Nowgam. He added that the authorities have set up a dog catching center, but it is not able to catch enough dogs to make a significant difference on the ground.

“The SMC needs to take this issue seriously,” said Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, adding that the safety of the residents of Srinagar is at stake.(KNO)
