Srinagar, Oct 11: Tourists visiting Gulmarg are facing difficulties due to the absence of local tourist guides after they go on strike.
The issue arises from a recent directive issued by the J&K Cable Car Corporation, indicating that services provided by tourist guides and other service providers would now be subject to normal rates.
This decision has prompted protests from local tourist guides, who are calling for an immediate reversal of the order.
Following the directive, a group of Tourist Guides staged a protest in Tangmarg, emphasizing the need to revoke this order. In Gulmarg, numerous tourists find themselves without the assistance of local guides. When approached for comments, tourists from various states across India and abroad expressed their concerns and urged authorities to reconsider the decision.
They highlighted that many tourist guides come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and cannot afford to pay the standard rates for cable car tickets.
The local tourism industry in Gulmarg is hopeful that a resolution can be reached soon, ensuring that both tourists and service providers can continue to enjoy the beauty and experiences that this picturesque region has to offer.(KNS).
