Traffic Police Issues Route Plan for Shab-e-Meraj Celebrations at Hazratbal Shrine

Srinagar, Jan 27(QNS): With thousands of devotees expected to gather at the Hazratbal Shrine for the annual Shab-e-Meraj celebrations on the night of January 27-28, 2025, and the following Friday on January 31, 2025, the Traffic Police have announced a detailed route and parking plan to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

Shab-e-Meraj, a significant religious occasion, draws worshippers from across Kashmir to the Hazratbal Shrine, which houses a holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). To manage the influx of devotees and maintain order, specific routes have been assigned for vehicles coming from North, South, and Central Kashmir.

Route Plan for Devotees

North Kashmir

Vehicles from North Kashmir will follow this route:

Shalteng – Parimpora – Qamarwari Cement Bridge – Noorbagh – Sekidafar – Eidgah – Aali Masjid – Sazgaripora – Hawal – Alamgari Bazar – Mill Stop – Molvi Stop (Lal Bazar) – Botshah Mohallah – Kanitar – University Parking (Saderbal Side, Sir Syed Gate).

South Kashmir

Vehicles from South Kashmir will follow this route:

Panthachowk – Stone Quarry (Athwajan) – Batwara – Sonwar Bazar – Ram Munshi Bagh – Gupkar – Grand Palace – Zethiyar Ghat – Nishat – Foreshore Road – Habbak Crossing – University Parking (Naseem Bagh Side, Budshah Gate).

Central Kashmir

1. From Budgam:

Hyderpora – Tengpora – Bemina Bypass – Bemina Crossing – Qamarwari – Cement Bridge – Noorbagh – Sekidafar – Eidgah – Aali Masjid – Sazgaripora – Hawal – Alamgari Bazar – Mill Stop – Molvi Stop (Lal Bazar) – Botshah Mohallah – Kanitar – University Parking (Saderbal Side, Sir Syed Gate).

2. From Lal Chowk:

Lal Chowk – SRTC Crossing – Ikhwan Chowk – Khanyar Chowk – Bohri Kadal – Rajouri Kadal – Gojwara Chowk – Hawal – Alamgari Bazar – Mill Stop – Molvi Stop (Lal Bazar) – Botshah Mohallah – Kanitar – University Parking (Saderbal Side, Sir Syed Gate).

3. From Ganderbal:

Nagbal – Zakura – Habbak – Naseem Bagh Parking.

Return Routes

Separate return routes have been outlined to prevent congestion:

• North Kashmir: Vehicles will return via Dal Lake areas, Dalgate, M.A. Road, and onward through Bemina Bypass.

• South Kashmir: Vehicles will exit through the Foreshore Road, Nishat, and Panthachowk routes.

• Central Kashmir: Specific routes are detailed for Budgam, Ganderbal, and Lal Chowk-bound vehicles, with clear pathways via Rainawari, Khanyar, and Abdullah Bridge.

Parking Arrangements

To accommodate the heavy vehicular traffic, designated parking spaces have been arranged near the shrine:

• Vehicles from North and Central Kashmir will park inside the University campus via the Sir Syed Gate (Saderbal Side).

• Vehicles from South Kashmir and Ganderbal will use parking inside the Naseem Bagh University Campus via the Budshah Gate (Habbak Side).

Additionally, the NIT parking lot and multi-level parking at Hazratbal will be available for vehicles approaching from Rainawari and Khanyar. VIP and official vehicles will have separate parking near the Traffic Camp at Hazratbal.

Appeal for Cooperation

The Traffic Police have urged the public to follow the assigned routes and parking plans to avoid disruptions. Devotees are requested to travel early and adhere to traffic advisories for a safe and smooth experience during this auspicious occasion.
