Rajouri,July 14: Authorities have launched major rescue operations after two boys drowned in river in Nowshera and Loran areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts respectively.
A police official said that both the boys drowned in rivers on Saturday evening.
In Nowshera Rajouri, a boy identified as Bunty Kumar @Raju (19) son of resident of Hanjana Khanka went to Manawer Tawi river at Hanjana for bathing where he drowned.
Later some locals saw the boy drowning, they raised an alarm after which police team and state disaster response force teams were also rushed to the spot.
“We found two sandles from river bank and efforts are on to trace him in river water and rescue operation is going on from Saturday evening but he is yet to be traced,” sub divisional police officer Nowshera, Brijesh Sharma told KNO.
In another incident, a six year old boy identified as Yasir Nazir son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Richawala Loran village of Poonch district also drowned in local river on Saturday evening.
Locals and police teams have launched rescue operation which was going on when last reports poured in. (KNO)
