Srinagar, Feb 01: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Spokesman Altaf Thakur on Saturday while praising the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman for presenting a people friendly budget stated that it was for the first time that the Centre has tabled a budget that is all for a common citizen.
In a statement issued to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Thakur said announcement of 500 airports across the country, jobs to poor, electricity to every house hold and water to every home is what a common man dreams in the today’s world. “I welcome and hail from the core of my heart the budget presented by the Union Finance Minister Sitarman,” Thakur said. He said that simplifying the tax payment system is a great achievement and a big relief for the people belonging to lower and middle-class groups.
He said that announcement of no tax for the people whose yearly income is less than five lakh is a major relief and a move that can help people ensure some savings and cherish their dreams of getting a good house and a car.
Thakur said that 99,300 crore for education sector signifies that Government of India’s focus is on the younger generation who would lead the country tomorrow. This, Thakur said, shows the farsightedness and the country’s commitment towards future generations.
The BJP leader also appreciated the announcement of huge budgetary allocation of wroth Rs 30,797 crore for Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and Rs 5958 crore for Ladakh for the financial years of 2020-21.
“The funds will be utilized for the first time on time and as per the actual need,” Thakur said. He said that J&K UT and Ladakh UT will usher into a new era of peace and development under the direct supervision of Central government.
Thakur said this year’s Union Budget centres around three ideas — Aspirational India, Economic development, A Caring Society. Thakur said that there is a big relief for a common and ordinary citizen and the budget presented in the Parliament today reflects poor man’s sentiments and aspirations. (KNO)
