People demand stringent action to ensure patient safety

Srinagar, Apr 03: An In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) clinic operation without registration was sealed in HMT area of Srinagar district on Thursday.

An official told that an In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) clinic at Umerabad HMT Srinagar was sealed by the health authorities as it wasn’t registered with Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council and District Regulatory Authority (DRA).

Official sources said that there is a big scam going on at many places in Kashmir on the name of IVF as doctors mostly from outside Kashmir are being brought here, who then call patients to Delhi and other places and loot them without knowing about the donors and other things.

They said that there must be a proper vigil on them and childless couples shouldn’t come in this trap and seek treatment at registered clinics only.

People have demanded action against the unregistered clinics to ensure the patient safety and prevent unethical practices.

They said that unregistered clinics violate professional ethics and the code of conduct, can trap trusting patients and violate their rights, bring bad name to medical professionalism and pose a threat to public health.

Notably, the J&K Medical Council has repeatedly issued warnings against unregistered clinics and urged them to register with the council.(KNO)
