Srinagar, Jan 27(QNS): A weak Western Disturbance (WD) is forecast to impact parts of the Kashmir Valley starting tomorrow night, January 29. This disturbance is expected to bring light snowfall to the higher altitudes of the region, with some plains also experiencing light rain or snow during this period.
According to Local Weatherman that the disturbance may affect the upper reaches of the Valley, including areas like Gulmarg and Pahalgam, while lower-altitude areas could witness scattered light precipitation. The event is expected to persist through the night and into January 30, providing a brief respite from the region’s ongoing dry spell.
In addition, another Western Disturbance is anticipated to affect the Valley from January 31 to February 2, potentially bringing more widespread snowfall and rain to the region. Residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on weather alerts as conditions could change rapidly.
This series of disturbances is typical for the region during winter months, though the intensity and duration of the weather events can vary. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious, particularly in higher elevations, where road conditions may deteriorate due to snow and icy patches.
For those planning to travel, it is recommended to monitor local weather reports closely.(QNS)
