Srinagar, Aug 2: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chief Muhammad Yasin Malik’s family Friday said that the health of Malik has deteriorated considerably in solitary cell at New Delhi’s Tihar Jail. They said Malik has developed infection in his ear for which he had already gone for a surgery and he is unable to stand due to multiple ailments.
The sister of Muhammad Yasin Malik said that Malik is sleeping on the floor and he is being allowed to venture outside from the solitary jail cell for only 20 minutes in day and night. “He is suffering immensely and we are sure he will die in the jail. We appeal the government of India to shift him some hospital for medical treatment,” she said.
In her address to media at Maisuma Srinagar, the sister of Muhammad Yasin Malik according to Kashmir News Trust said that he was not confined in a solitary cell even when he was a militant.
“From four months I have been roaming from pillar to post at Delhi High Court but all in vain. His condition is very critical,” she said. “Nobody is allowed to meet him. I was unable to touch and hug him. On one or the other pretext, we are not being allowed to meet him properly,” she said.
The family of Yasin Malik said that Malik has accumulated no wealth and property. “The person who spent much of his life in jails and on roads has no interest in mundane benefits. Our father worked hard in Ladakh to meet the both ends. Malik didn’t care for wealth when he was young and now how can property attract him, when he has grown old.”
They asked authorities to shift Malik to some hospital otherwise he will die in solitary confinement of Tihar Jail. JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by National Investigating Agency (NIA) in April this year in alleged funding case. (KNT)
