Police Monday evening arrested three suspected militants at Narbal area on Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

Sources said that a vehicle was asked to stop at a Police Naka on Srinagar-Baramulla highway near Narbal. “The suspected militants in the vehicle fired at the forces leading to a brief shootout,” they said.

In the following police action, sources said, three suspected militants were arrested. The arrested trio has been identified as Aqib, Zahid and Tariq, all residents of south Kashmir.

Police sources said that the Naka had been established following specific information about the movement of militants in the area.

As the car passed through the area, the forces asked it to stop, instead the persons on board the vehicle opened fire which resulted in a brief shootout.

They said that the OGW of the militants was injured in the exchange of fire while the three suspected militants who were “overpowered” by the forces were arrested.
