Police has said that son of a doctor was killed near the site of the gunfight in which a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in Pulwama.

SSP Pulwama said, in response to a notice by SHRC on a petition filed by chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, also stated that investigation to ascertain the presence of Faizan Ahmed Poswaal son of Dr. Abdul Gani Poswaal at the encounter spot, three months after the incident, was being ascertained.

“The subject (Faizan Ahmed Poswaal resident of Khrew Ladhoo Pampore, Pulwama) had received bullet injuries at encounter site and his presence at the place of occurrence is being ascertained and the investigation is going on,” the SSP said.

The SSP said that encounter had ensued after militants hiding in Thamna village in the south Kashmir district opened fire on the search party and a Lashkar militant Sajad Ahmed Shah of Chogal Handwara was killed while two others managed to escape.

“Some civilians received injuries one of them identified as Faizaan later succumbed as he had received bullet injuries at the encounter site.”

In reply to the notices issued by the SHRC, deputy commissioner Pulwama stated that ex-gratia relief case of the slain has been prepared by the Tehsildar Pampore and is under process “which shall be put before the next district level screening cum coordination committee for disposal under law”. The petitioner meanwhile has demanded a high-level probe into the Faizan’s killings.
