Dussehra marking the victory of good over evil was celebrated on Thursday with religious fervour at Kishtwar.
The main function was held at Parade Ground Kishtwar where the effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbkaran and son Megnath were consigned to flames. The function was organized by Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS) Kishtwar.
On that ocassion Shobha Yatra was also taken out from Ramleela Ground to Parade Ground where main function was held. This Shobha yatra passes from Gurudwara Chowk, Old Bazzar, Mini Bus Stand and Hidyal Chowk.
Sanatan Dharam Sabha President Hans Raj Bhutyal while addressing the gathering greeted the people on this auspicious occasion and said that the day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. He said that it is not possible to save humanity without wiping out the evil.
While speaking on that ocassion Mahant Ramsharan Dass ji said that world forces should unite to fight against the evil. Stressing on the importance of celebrating such religious events, Mahant ji said that such occasions provide us an opportunity to introspect and further improve our attitude and behaviour to become a good human being.
Dc Kishtwar , SSP , ASP , DySP Hq Ayaz Ahmed, DySP DAR , SHO, ARTO Abhay , CAHO and other district officers remain present on that ocassion along with them various other dignitaries and prominent citizens also remain present on the occasion.
Adequate security arrangements were made by Jammu Kashmir Police and CISF for smooth conduct of Dussehra festival.
