Govt forces on Wednesday evening launched cordon-and-search -operations (CASOs) in a string of villages in Pulwama and Shopian districts.

A police official said that joint teams of army, CRPF and SOG personel laid a seige around the Frasipora, Khatarpora Litter and Bongam Lajora villages in district Pulwama and sarted a door to door search operation.

He said the operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in these areas.

Another police official said that special forces of 23 Para, CRPF and SOG ring-fenced the Baderhama village in Shopian and started a search operation.

Barring the Bongam Lajora village , the operation was underway in other villages when this reoprt was being filed.
