Bodies being taken to police station, likely to be handed over tomorrow: Army official

Four militants have been killed in an encounter with government forces forests of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Official sources told GNS that a search party of army’s 5 Grenadier intercepted a group of militants at Torna post in the woods of Boniyar at around 8:30 a.m.

After being intercepted, the militants opened fire, triggering off the gunfight which according to sources continued intermittently till 12:30 pm.

An army officer also confirmed the incident and said that four unidentified militants have been killed and their identity and group affiliation are being ascertained. He said since the area has tough terrain, bodies are being carried to police station and will be possible handover tomorrow.

“Three bodies were recovered at around 1:30 pm and later one more body was recovered late in the evening as the area is a high terrain and have dense forest cover,” the officer added.
