A day after his resignation from NTDV, celebrated journalist Ravish Kumar warned that future journalists will have to do ‘dalali’ if people don’t fight against their slavery of ‘godi media’.
Dalali, literally meaning brokerage, is often used as a derogatory word for people catering to interest powers under the garb of their professional responsibilities. Godi media word that Ravish used to describe a number of news channels in India that he said work as lapdogs of the Government’s narrative.
Ravish Kumar, who presented a widely viewed Prime Times programme on NDTV Hindi, resigned Wednesday following the stepping down of the NTDV co-founders Radhika and Pranoy Roy.
Ravish is the first journalist to quit NDTV in wake of Adani’s control. His move is being hailed by his followers who are describing him as the unsellable hope of true journalism.
A day after his resignation, Ravish Kumar took to YouTube to connect with his audience. He spoke highly of his colleagues at NDTV even as he said that he will talk about the channel on some other occasion. He particularly mentioned about his women colleagues for helping him fight patriarchy.
He called upon his viewers to fight it and come out of the slavery of godi media. He said if the Godi media is not resisted, all future journalists will have to do Dalali.
Ravish said he is not certain about his future moves but in the meantime YouTube shall remain his primary address.
