A complete shutdown is being observed today for third straight day in Dooru-Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district to mourn the killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander in a shootout with the government forces.
All shops and other commercial establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads in the area.
Asif Malik of Verinag was killed in an ambush laid by the army in Gasigund village of Dooru on Friday morning. An army soldier was killed and two others wounded in the shootout.
An engineering graduate, Malik was a top commander of the Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit.
