Drone

Chennai: Amid strained ties between India and Pakistan following the Pulwama attack, a drone was reportedly sighted flying over the naval station in Chennai on Monday.

Sources said that Naval personnel found the drone flying over the INS Adyar campus at around 11 pm on Monday.

Following the incident, the Navy filed a complaint with the Chennai police on Tuesday after which the cops have initiated a probe in the matter.

The incident has come to light at a time when key installations, including airports across the country, have been put on high alert in the aftermath of the deteriorating ties with the neighbouring country.

Notably, on Monday, Indian security forces shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to Pakistan in Bikaner in Rajasthan. The drone was shot down by a Sukhoi-30 jet and the debris fell across the international border.

Speaking to Times Now, sources said, “at around 11:30 am, an unidentified flying object from the Pakistani side violated the Indian airspace near Bikaner.” The UAV was immediately shot down by the Indian Air Force jet and the debris apparently landed on the other side of the international border, near Fort Abbas in Pakistan.

Last week, merely hours after the Indian Air Force jets had conducted massive air strike at a Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Balakot, deep inside Pakistan’s territory; Indian forces had shot down a Pakistani drone near the international border in Kutch, Gujarat.
