Protesters Set Ablaze Tin Shed, 5 Policeman Injured

Srinagar, April 16: Residents of Arwah village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday blocked the main road and protested against the alleged encroachment of a graveyard in the vicinity by a single person.

Protesting People told that the one person namely Mohd Maqbool Dar, son of Gh. Mohd, a resident of Arwah, has encroached the graveyard of public by building a tin-shed on it.

After protests, the infuriated people burnt down the tin shed of alleged encroacher.

A police official while confirming the incident told GNS that a police party was immediately sent to the spot to pacify the protesters, adding that at least five policeman have suffered injuries in the incident.

He said one policeman has received injuries on head, who is being treated upon in the hospital, and four others have sustained minor injuries.

Meanwh, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered and investigations taken up, he added. (GNS)
