LeT Module behind slew of robberies busted

Srinagar April 24: On 22/04/2021, Baramulla Police received information about a bank robbery at J&K Bank Khare Sherabad. Accordingly, an FIR under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pattan and a special investigation team was constituted. 

During the course of investigation, taking aid of modern and scientific methods of investigation including CCTV footage and human intelligence, investigating officers were able to identify the group involved in the commission of crime.  

Consequently, acting on a specific input by Baramulla Police in a joint operation with 29RR arrested three terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT identified as Rahil Ahmad Parray son of Bashir Ahmad Parray resident of Kanihama, Arif Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Mazhama and Naseer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Singhpora. 

During further course of investigation, it was revealed that the arrested trio were also involved in other robberies vis­a-vis Grameen Bank Ogmuna on 12/03/2021, Grameen Bank Panzinara on 16/03/2021 & J&K Bank Chandipora on 24/03/2021 and decamped with total cash of ₹9,51,896. 

Investigation also revealed that the arrested trio were working on the behest and directions of local active terrorists Yosuf Dar @Kantru and Abrar Nadeem Bhat linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT. They were also involved in looting of ₹3,50,000/- from a petrol pump at Budgam on 18/02/2021 and killing of a civilian namely Naseer Ahmad Khan at Buchipora Magam on 11/04/2021.  

On their disclosure the recoveries made include Cash ₹24,500/-, 01 Chinese pistol, 02 magazines, 25 live rounds, two 12-bore rifles, 03 cartridges, 02 pouches, 01 multipurpose knife, 03 PPE kits, 01 weapon tying chain and three vehicles viz, Alto K-10 JK05G-5626, Alto-800 JK05G-4664, Alto K-10 without number plate were recovered. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
