Testing intensified, Preparations for mock drill on April 10 in full swing; Last two or three waves been handled well, says DHSK Mushtaq Ahmad Rather
Says role of the UT government in tackling Covid been appreciated all over India; have asked CMOs, BMOs to intensify testing
Srinagar, April 5: As the Covid-19 seems to be tightening its grip over Jammu and Kashmir, Director Health Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Wednesday said proactive steps have been taken to enhance preparedness in the face of rising cases. Directions have been issued to all relevant officials to ramp up testing and preparations for a mock drill on April 10 to assess their COVID-19 preparedness are in full swing.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of an event on the Tobacco Control Program organized by DHSK, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Rather, according to GNS, said that the government had played a significant role in tackling Covid, and its efforts have been appreciated all over India. “We are always fully prepared, as the last two or three waves have been handled well”, Rather said adding the way the Jammu and Kashmir government tackled Covid, it has been appreciated all over India.
“The cases are rising as viral influenza and Covid are happening simultaneously, and as a result, a slight rise in cases has been seen over the time. But we are on alert and there is no need to panic,” Rather said. “Preventive measures should be followed, and in this regard, even a circular has already been issued, ordering all CMOs, BMOs, and medical superintendents to intensify testing.”
“The earlier cases are reported, the earlier treatment will be provided, and lesser chances of increase or spread can be prevented”, he said.
“The Government of India has directed us to do a trial run to check the availability of stocks and all essential equipment to tackle Covid. Therefore, a mock drill will be held all over Kashmir on April 10. Testing is also being intensified, and if anybody feels symptomatic, they can come to the hospital as all facilities are available. Also, if any person wishes to do the test voluntarily, they can come,” he further said.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir reported 48 fresh covid-19 cases even as there was no death due to the virus during the last 24 hours, as per official data. (GNS)
