In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old man in Harinarayanpur, Kolkata, allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat. The motive behind the gruesome act was a rift that developed between the couple over the wife’s Instagram reels and the friend circle. The accused, identified as Parimal Baidya, is currently on the run and is being sought by the police.

According to the police, Parimal suspected his wife, Aparna, of having an affair. Their frequent disputes began when she started creating and posting reels on social media. Aparna had made several friends through this platform, including an official from a money-lending agency, which further fueled the husband’s suspicion.

The couple, who had been married for 17 years, has two children – a son and a daughter. At the time of the incident, the children were reportedly not at home. It was their son, who is a student in Class-VII, who discovered his mother’s lifeless body upon returning from a tuition class. He immediately raised an alarm, prompting the locals to rush to the scene and inform the police.

“The couple used to have frequent fights, and my father always threatened to kill her. On Thursday night, there was a dispute between my parents,” said the distraught boy in his statement to the police.

It was revealed that due to the constant arguments, the woman had previously left her husband and sought refuge at her parents’ house. The police have recovered the murder weapon and have launched a search operation to apprehend Parimal. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem examination.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to bring the accused to justice. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences that can arise from disputes within relationships. The police are urging individuals to seek peaceful resolutions and to refrain from resorting to violence.
