Poonch, May 01: Smooth traffic movement on Mughal Road got affected since evening hours due to a landslide in Poonch district  with some vehicles reportedly  stuck on the road, officials told KNO.

Road was earlier opened in the morning after a closure of five months due to snowfall. 

Tazeem Dar, PDP spokesman from Rajouri, who remained stuck on the road told that there is no policy with authorities to ensure smooth traffic on the road.

He said that people have to wait for hours together on the name of security checkups and than shooting stones or landslide become nightmare on road.

Dar said that he himself remained stuck off between Pir Ki Gali and Poshana due to a slide which is yet to be cleared.

“There is no mobile network connectivity on road and mobile phone signal flashed on my phone at a particular turn and I am making this distress call to you.” Dar said and claimed that many vehicles having children and women are also stuck alongwith his vehicle. 

“We are stuck in between the road and have no information about next.”  Dar said who appealed authorities to come out of slumber and to come up for the help of people.

DM Poonch, Rahul Yadav said that he has directed field machinery to look into the matter. 

SSP Poonch, Ramesh Angral said that a slide hit the road which has been cleared but road is slippery for vehicles movement. 

He also added that some vehicles might have been stuck at the road and traffic police personals team is also on spot. 

SSP Poonch also appealed people to follow the guidelines of timing issued by authorities for movement on road.
