Kashmir Files

Renowned filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is still creating waves for several reasons. The societal film stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles.

From Bollywood actor Anupam Kher to the President of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association Ashoke Pandit, many celebs have expressed their displeasure with Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid’s openly slamming Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

NADAV LAPID APOLOGISES FOR HIS STRONG REMARKS

During an interaction with an online portal, Nadav Lapid apologises for his comments on Vivek Agnihotri’s film, he told CNN-News18, “I didn’t want to insult anyone, and my aim was never to insult people or their relatives, who have suffered. I totally totally totally apologize if that’s the way they interpreted.”

While talking about this, the Israeli filmmaker also spoke on behalf of the entire jury and stated that his remarks were a cumulation of other jurists’ thoughts as well.

However, a couple of days ago, Nadav was in solidarity with his remarks and said in an interview that he perfectly knows how to recognise propaganda disguised as a movie.”

He further added in a conversation with the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, “Making bad films is not a crime, but this is a very crude, manipulative and violent propaganda film. The truth is that I also couldn’t help but imagine a similar situation that might happen one day soon in Israel, and I would be happy that in such a situation the head of a foreign jury would be willing to say things as he sees them.”

ABOUT THE FILM
