Baramulla, Feb 26: The Power Development Department (PDD) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla has issued a notice to approximately 2,400 consumers, warning them of imminent disconnection due to non-payment of power bills.

The notice issued by the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PDD has stressed the urgency of settling outstanding dues to avoid disruption in power service.

The department has set a deadline for consumers to promptly clear their outstanding bills to avoid disconnection. It warned that the failure to comply may result in the halt of the services.

“The department is going to disconnect approximately more than 2,400 connections of the consumers who have not paid their electricity bills. Power will get disconnected at 10:30 pm,” the public notice reads, adding, “Consumers can pay bills up to 4 pm to avoid disconnection.”

Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PDD, Baramulla, Yasir Kakroo told KNO that the department in the initial phase has decided to disconnect approximately 400-500 connections. This decision is aimed at preventing confusion-like situations among people, he said.

“We initially planned to disconnect 2,400 connections, but considering the situation, we have decided to limit it to over 500. Our priority is to streamline the process and ensure a smooth resolution for both the consumers and the Power Distribution Department,” the AEE said.

Earlier in the previous years, the PDD issued a circular asking its consumers to pay the dues, failing which an FIR will be lodged against the defaulters.(KNO)
